The ‘Dead Poets Society' was set in the 1950's by a private kid's school. The school had a very authoritarian framework that was built on the four key elements of accomplishment, those being; Tradition, Honour, Discipline and Excellence. The pillars of success had been the fundamentals of the schools culture, which has been reinforced and supported by the schools teaching personnel. The classroom environment was strict plus the teaching was ridged with no alternative instructing styles. The schools culture indicated that, conformity to custom was the only way to gain acceptance. Actually zero tolerance was exercised for all those students that did not abide by the school guidelines. Punishment for misbehaviour was at the form of corporal consequence; this was created by hitting the college student with a solid wood paddle for the behind. Learners were urged to engage in study teams outside school hours to work out answers they were doing not understand. The students resided on grounds; therefore the tight culture of the school was present right up until they attended sleep during the night. It was realized that parents were encouraged to enforce the schools culture on there kids. Parents positioned high requirement and demands on there kids to succeed at all costs. A new teacher arrived at the school Mr. Keating who is a former student of the school. Mr. Keating was your new English language teacher that had a educating style that was as opposed to the different teachers in the school. The teaching design Mr. Keating practised was non conventional and would not comply towards the schools requirements. Mr. Keating's teaching strategies promoted individualism, freedom of preference, critical pondering and specific expression. The classroom environment was relaxed and included the use of music and sport to aid in the understanding of books.
